Along with being easy to clean, Sunbrella upholstery fabrics are mold and mildew resistant, so you don’t need to worry about mildew stains or mold growth on your upholstered furniture. However, stubborn mold spores and mildew growth are unfortunately a part of life in some especially humid, tropical climates. To remove mildew from Sunbrella fabrics, simply check out our easy-to-follow directions to begin the cleaning process on the affected area.
How to Clean Mold and Mildew off Fabric
Removing mold from Sunbrella upholstery fabric is easy. Simply create a cleaning solution combining one fourth cup dishwashing liquid and one cup bleach per gallon of warm water. You can combine these into a spray bottle to keep on hand for a tough stain remover. If you have severe mildew, a stronger bleach solution can be used without harming Sunbrella fabrics.
Apply the cleaning solution and allow it to soak into the fabric for 15 minutes.
Remove stain with a non-abrasive sponge, towel or very soft bristle brush before rinsing thoroughly to remove all soap residue. Watch those suds work away that musty mildew! Allow fabric to air dry. If the mildew is severe, you can increase the amount of bleach without harming the fabric.
